How a "Rape Club" operated at a Japanese University; ...... And how democracy has missed one key nation in Asia.
RAPE CLUB
At Tokyo's prestigious Waseda University, some male students learned something outside of class-- how to rape. Now they're learning something else-- how lightly the Japanese justice system deals with rapists.
Dozens of young men belonged to the "Super Free" club-- a group that organized massive parties and enjoyed near-cult status. But the members had another goal. They invited hundreds of young women to the parties, selected the vulnerable, then got them drunk-- and raped them.
The "Super Free" case has been receiving heavy coverage in Japan, turning a spotlight on the way women are treated and depicted by Japanese society. It's also brought attention to the short jail terms handed to those already convicted by the courts.
